SALA is committed to providing low- and middle-income people with civilian assistance in its service sector on issues that most directly affect their health, safety and well-being. Staff are responsible for providing and/or supporting legal services to those who are entitled to them. We primarily serve low-income people who would not otherwise have access to civil law services. SALA serves 9 Arizona counties and 11 Native American communities. To serve these communities, SALA has six offices in Tucson, Bisbee, Casa Grande, Sacaton, Lakeside and Whiteriver. Our administrative office is located in Tucson. SALA serves 9 counties in Arizona and 11 Indian reservations. Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) is hiring a full-time attorney for its VAWA Immigration project at its Tucson office.

The project is based in the Tucson SALA office, but the attorney may be asked to represent clients residing in rural counties served by Sala. The lawyer is responsible for representing applicants for legal immigration status in accordance with the provisions on violence against women. *Please note that all salary information is approximate based on third party submissions to SimplyHired or its affiliates. Founded in 1951, SALA has a long history of advocating on behalf of low- and middle-income individuals and families in all jurisdictions and before administrative tribunals. SALA provides services in 9 counties and 11 Indian reservations in Arizona. Legal aid was first provided in Pima County in 1951 by the Legal Aid Society of the Pima County Bar Association. The spouses of local lawyers who sought assistance from the plaintiffs, and the cases were handled by the lawyers on a voluntary basis. In 1968, the program first received federal funding from the Office of Economic Opportunity`s (OPA) Bureau of Legal Services. In 1974, following the passage of the Legal Services Corporation Act, SALA received its first LSC grant for Pima County. We provide services to individuals in the areas of consumer protection, family relations, community development, loss of housing/unsafe housing, immigration, education, immigration, tribal court representation, etc.
